A little awkward...
...but beautiful setting and fun, easy climb on decent rock (Otter Cliffs is better if you have the option)

Urgh!
I guess this should have been obvious but I ended up climbing the face for the first 1/2 instead of stemming up the chimney (too wide for my short legs!), big mistake but fun anyway!

Wonderful Wonder Wall
The perfect way to kick off a week of climbing in Acadia. Climbing with the ocean crashing at your feet and the sound of bell buoys can't be beat!

No otter spottings but climb is cool
I definitely recommend the variation, pulling the roof is no problem and worth the little extra effort.

We're back
It's been way too long since we've climbed at the Gunks! This was a great 'welcome back' climb. Fun second pitch, too short!

Urgh!
Another hang dog at High Rocks! Phone booth is the other route that haunts me here. 'Tales' is a little reachy for my height but I think I can get it next time. Great climb but probably not a great idea to attempt a 5.10 on my first outdoor climb of the season! Thanks to Mark and Rob for lending us their top rope!

It has a name!
The Rock Climbing Utah book calls this route 'Cloud Dancer.' There wasn't a cloud in the sky though for this fun friction climb that requires good balance. Listen for the sound of the Indian Creek below.

Friction is your friend
There's more friction than holds, a good warmup climb.

Conquer the Devil
This is described as the classic Devils Tower route and there's a reason for that. Eight unique pitches (if you add the bowling alley approach as a 5.5. pitch) of interesting crack climbing. The 'cracks' are more like offwidths and the offwidths are more like chimneys. The Durrance Crack pitch is the toughest but most rewarding. The Jump Traverse is too tricky to actually jump but fun anyway. It's not a 'pretty' climb, more like a grunt-fest, but worth every minute of it. Make sure you sign the climbing log at the top and take a moment to smile at the Devil.

Balancing act
This is a great face climb with little crimpers and requires good balance. Also helps if you have long arms and legs, so I'm still trying.
