3 out of 5 stars roped solo

I replaced the belay anchors with 1/2" bolts w/ chain and welded cold shut. Please don't add slings, no need to have bright webbing blowing in the breeze along the highway.

4 out of 5 stars Good day to climb

After that weird late season snow, it was nice to get back out on the rock, especially sans rope.

4 out of 5 stars final something more than one pitck

I've been wanting to do this route for a long time and finally got on it. We did the new 5.9 start variation that begins at the base of the rock instead of the gulley.

The higher you climb, the better the rock gets. There have been some bolts placed on some of the higher pitches, and some of them have had their hangers swiped. It's a pity as the last pitch that was bolted has about the niced rock you'll come across in southcetral.

4 out of 5 stars Watch your swing

Just a note that you can take some wild pendulums when tr'n this route, make sure your belayer is out of your line of fire and if a light belayer, anchored as well.

I watched a guy solo it in teva's, pretty inspiring.

The route is well named, as odds are good you'll be flying off this route.

4 out of 5 stars No more manky bolts

I replaced the remaining 1/4" bolts on the top of the route with 1/2" stud bolts, and now the rap station sports two 1/2" bolts with chain and welded cold shut.

I'm thinking this route will be alot more popular now that it has decent bolts on it. It's also a great early season climb as it gets good sun to dry it off.

5 out of 5 stars Great route

This route doesn't always form up all the way to the ground, but we lucked out and were able to start from the base. The ice was thin and hard at the base so a challenge not to blast it all the way off before getting a tool set. There are several tied off shrubs at the top, so no need for a v-thread. One of the crux's of the route is the finish bulge, no ice to hook and the mud wasn't hard enough to hold. Just keep looking for some rocks to hook.

You'll want two ropes as it's a full 50m to the ground from the top.

5 out of 5 stars Midweek is the time to hit it

We climbed the leftmost flow. The ice was hard until the sun swung around and started to warm it up. Traffic isn't too bad mid-week, though we stretched the lunch "hour"

2 out of 5 stars This route does have a name

I bolted this route in the early 90's, maybe 91 but I don't recall for sure. The route is named Enter Sandman. Yes, I was a metalhead, and the rough sandy nature of the rock leaves you sand in your eyes and other orifices.

I'd always planned the route to go out the roof, but never managed to pull the moves on tr, so never finished bolting it. I have no doubt the roof will go.
