just back from a great, albeit quick trip to Zion. Joe and I arrived friday afternoon to find the park bustling with tourists, camp ground full, shuttle buses packed like a NY subway. We ended up dropping more than 30bucks for a piece of dirt squeezed in between others for our tents in a private campground and then being unable to sleep due to some rowdy late night music enthusiasts. Ok, now I could really not wait to be away from everyone up on a big wall! The Big Lebowski is a movie about a lazy- take'r-easy guy who goes by Dude; it is also a relatively new free climb up West Temple. The climb consists of 21 pitches of mostly 5.10-5.11 climbing. Many pitches are wide and physically demanding. The route climbs 2400vertical feet with an additional 1400feet gained during and arduous loose scree and thorny brush covered approach. to see our story of the climb click: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAViaB6UkuE While the route is definitely a proud line with some really cool pitches we had a few disappointments. #1: We were too slow! #2: Even for seasoned Sedona climbers we felt that more cleaning should have been done. #3: Anchors were inadequately equiped, most were composed of old bleached out climbing ropes with no rings. We sacrificed hardware on all but one of the raps. As this route sees more traffic, it will improve! until them bring lot's of extra webbing, quicklinks or leaver biners, and all the strength and courage you can muster! ...and if you are too tired to climb the next day; there is always canyoneering!

Nice! I'm hoping to go up the Lebowski next month. We're going to do it over a couple of days if the weather stays good. We're planning on bringing some hardware to clean up the anchors. Glad to see the route getting some travel.
