Description

SuperStatic/Nylon Static Ropes  Sterling makes two static ropes 3/8”(10mm) and 7/16"(11.1mm) specifically designed for climbing applications. The 10mm is ideal for climbs requiring a lightweight line for fixing, hauling, rappelling and top-roping. The 11.1mm is better suited to big wall climbs, expeditions, high-use guiding where weight is less of a factor and the main concerns are severe objective dangers, long sections of sharp rock, or extreme amounts of hauling, jugging, and reppelling. Sterling also offers 1/2" (12.7mm), 5/8” (16mm), and 1/2" SafetyGlo, which are more suited to rescue applications than climbing. The 1/2" (12.7mm) is a two person rescue rope, used in mainline rescue and belay line systems. It is a low stretch, high strength rescue line for high angle and technical rescue. The 5/8"(16mm) is a two person rope for rescues requiring a super high tensile strength rope. It is also an excellent rope for hauling large objects. And, the 1/2" SafetyGlo is a two person safety rope with reflective yarns for low light to dark rescue situations.

I don't have a lot of use for static line, but I use this rope for TR anchors when I take a group out. I was amazed at how suple the rope was compared to other static lines. Minimal stretch under load, and takes knots easily. It has held up to a lot of abuse, and still look like new. I bought mine as a short rope for www.gearexpress.com
