Zipka 4 out of 5 stars

I love how lightweight and compact it is. It is a very simple design; on/off, no in between. However, it just gives a very general grayish light, not focusing down on anything making it slightly harder to see obstacles. It's great for reading at night, or doing close up work like cooking or repairing something.

to scubasnyder:
I have fully submerged my zipka PLUS many times without a problem. Im not saying its waterproof, but I have used it fully underwater.
The zipka is impossible to find now practically, so consider this review for the zipka plus:
The extra LED makes it more than bright enough for your only headlight for anything but offtrail bushwhacking or climbing. I recommend it for on-trail hiking, and any camp duties, it is up to the task.

This is a good light, because of the size and weight, other than that i would rather have the princeton tec Aurora because its brighter and its waterproof.

I just used this for the first time last night on a night hike from Dry Canyon and back down Battlecreek. Me and my friend (he had a ZipkaPlus) weren't very familiar with the trail but had no real difficulties following it. The range of the lamp isn't all that great but it is definetly bright. I don't think it would work if you were wearing anything on your head (hat, helmet, etc.) The zip could be tighter but it still works great even when running down a steep rocky trail. Slips a little when sweaty but for the price, lightness, and brightness it is a good buy. I love it, someday It'll probabaly become a backup, but till then I love it.

ps it's very cool that it only takes 3 aaa batteries instead of expensive lithium ones
