Forsaken Lake, 7 AM

I couldn't pass up this shot as dawn caught up with us on morning of our summit push on Castle Mtn, high on the crest of the Beartooth Mountains of Montana. I don't understand... what is it about the loneliness and desolation of the alpine that is so enticing to us?
