These birches appeared to me as beniito'wuu betee'ouw ceebii'oot (Arapaho for 'earthborn spirits') biding the secrets of the 1.4 billion year old Vedauwoo granite beneath the storm clouds that drove us off the Valley Massif nearby that day. July 2007
