Go to the Marulani Lodge and ask about their hiking trail. It would cost you +- R20 p.p. p.day. A beatiful hiking trail will lead you through a narrow gorge up the valley. Take care if you decide to climb the cliff walls, for the rocks are very slippery. Climb up the rickety ladder suspended over the 15m high waterfall and follow the trail further up the valley. Remember to bring something to swim in (unless skinnydipping doesn't bother you) for there are numerous rock- pools. When you get to the big waterfall- start climbing! There is no worked out route, and I didn't see any signs of previous climbing, but use ropes in any case. The rocks are very slippery next to the waterfall. At the top of the waterfall a very pleasant surprise awaits you. Lots of wildlife(baboons, antelope, eagles etc.) And some of the best scenery close to JHB.
