About Beacon Hill:

There is the nearest sport climbing area near the city. From many year ago, there have the nature route only, the famous route is 'King Cobra'. It is the big crag located middle of the wall. Until almost 10 years ago(1989), the Japanese guy 'Saito' develop some hard route on there 'Lizard Wall' (7a+) & 'Peace Forever'(7b). After that some Hong Kong climbers commence to project other sport routes on there. Until now, there have total 17 nos. of sport climbing routes. The grading between 6a - 7c in France System. All the routes within 15m and below 10 bolts, also have the good anchor. Bacically, most of the route is short and powerful climb, but for day trip there is a wonderful place. You can enjoy the old airport view from the top. (posted by Wannie)
Nearest town or city: Shek Kip Mei
Directions: On Kowloon side, take the MTR to Shek Kip Mei Station. And then take the mini bus '32M' to station terminal or the taxi to the end of 'Lung Ping Road'. It's best to take a taxi now, you can cut the walk in half by asking the driver to take you to onto the main road after lung ping rd and take the first left towards the corrections centre and follow the road up. This cuts the walk in half if you're lazy like me :-) After arrived, the big rock you can see on the middle part of hill. Follow the concrete road with a minutes walk upward then walk to the small path on right hand side. About 10 minutes walk up to the hill, meet the water service plant. And then up to the right side foot path. Walk 10 minutes more, the climbing wall is there. Under the wall has a route map for guiding. (posted by Wannie)
