About Banks Peninsula:

Banks Peninuslia juts into the Pacific on the East Coast of the South Island. It's close proximity to Christchurch makes it an ideal alternative to the Port Hills for climbing and MTB. In this db the more estabilished crags will be listed but there are hundreds of crags dotted around the peninuslia and great scope for devlopment. Unlike the Port Hills crags, most of which are on public land, access in most cases must be obtanied before climbing
Nearest town or city: Christchurch
Directions: You have to work a little harder for your pleasure here. You can get anywhere on peninuslia within 2 hours drive from Christchurch. But there is always a walk to do. Anything from 10 minutes to a couple of hours before you hit your chosen crag. Contact details for land owners can befound in South Island Rock.
