About Crag X:

Another obscure little Port Hills crag with the same type rock as Britten and Cattlestop.
On the positive side, it is easily accessible, has moderate grade fairly well protected routes, and is protected from NE winds and is sunny in the afternoon.
On the negative side, the base is somewhat overgrown and the rock tends to be quite crumbly in spots. With more traffic, it would probably clean up nicely though.
Directions: Park under the macrocarpa trees (or in the carpark at the corner), on the Summit Road west of Jollies Bush, and walk up the farm track directly to the gun emplacements. Hang a right (crater rim walkway headed west) and drop down the zig-zag track. Head left off the track at the bottom through the trees (watch out for the nettles).
