About Froggat Edge:

The Wharepapa South area offers 4 or 5 crags all within a 20 minute drive of the cross roads. The approaches to the crags usually involve a walk down a farm track and maybe a gate or two to cross. All crags are on private land but all that is usually required is a signature at the gate or a simple request at the less visited locations. Froggat Edge is the largest and most extensively developed of the crags and has routes ranging from about grade 10 to 29 and lengths of upto 25 metres as well as some reasonable bouldering.
Nearest town or city: Hamilton/Te Awamutu
Directions: If coming from the North turn left just past Bryces; If coming from the South go straight ahead instead of rounding the bend to past Bryces. You should pass the school here, follow this road and take the first left. Follow this road as it winds down a little hill, the climbing is signposted, you go in through a gate and drive onto the farm. Wharepapa is a very small community and one of the few buildings is a coffee shop owned by a climber that doubles as a gear store and a bounty of local knowledge. There are some hostels behind the coffee shop, otherwise camp at the elementary school (only $4 NZ per person per night) and enjoy a dip in their swimming pool.
