About L. Adlitzgräben:
Small valley with multiple limestone areas, most of them nearby the valley street. Areas ranging from small crags to 110 meter high walls, most climbing is steep. You'll encounter fragile sections where the rock is white, black and brown, grey surfaces are mostly solid and feature dents, grooves from water, well articulated cracks, some walls have good pockets. Be careful with huge loose grey flakes on the higher walls! Most climbs have been equipped for sport climbing where you need a 60m rope, 16 quickdraws, two locking biners, a sling or daisy chain and your belay device. Wearing a climbing helmet is recommended, especially on multi-pitch routes. Breitenstein lies in the middle of the valley and offers lovely trails for mountain biking and hiking, don't miss the “Doppelreiterwarte”, the railway trail, the “Gaiskirchl” and try to find Liechtenstein's artificial waterfall! The nearby “Höllental” offers more traditional style climbing and the “Schwarza” river which is a great gift on hot summer days. Reichenau has tourist information, a good confectioner (“Nöbauer”), various restaurants and offers the performance of popular Austrian plays from the “golden” (pre-WW2) age during summer. In Gloggnitz you can shop for climbing equipment “Sport Gruber”, visit the castle and find some supermarkets which have all the goods not available in Breitenstein. Gloggnitz also has an internet cafe and a good confectioner named "Langeder". |
