About Black Crag(OS):

One of the best crags in the valley for the Extreme leader. Of the 50 or so routes, over half are good Extremes. There is also a good selection of VS and HVS routes and the classic Severe, Troutdale Pinnacle, at 350 feet long. The routes are all at least 300 feet long and offer adequate protection. Northwest facing and better in the afternoon.
Nearest town or city: Borrowdale
Directions: OS 89 & 90 -- GR NY 263 172 Alt. 307m 4 miles south of Keswick. Take the B5289 south for three miles to the Borrowdale Hotel. A track leads from here up the valley to the woods, where a footpath bears up and left to the obvious crag in the valley in about 20 minutes.
