About Hutaple Crag (OS):

All the crags at the head of this valley are quite good, though somewhat vegetated, but are definately worth a visit on a good summer's day. The main crag is 300 to 400 feet tall with about 30 routes from Diff to E2, with HS being the predominant grade. The other crags offer good solid rock though not quite the position and length of Hutaple Crag. Worth the hike for the solitude and adventure.
Nearest town or city: Patterdale
Directions: OS 90 GR NY 367 120 Alt. 740m
3 miles SW of Patterdale. Take the A592 south from Patterdale for about a mile to a car park. Follow the valley running South West for two miles to where it steepens. The buttress in between the two valleys is Hutaple Crag. Beneath this is Mart Crag. The cove up to the left has Scrubby Crag on the right hand side, and in the back is Hart Crag, a steep, compact cliff with some good Severes.
