About Armathwaite (OS):
One of the great bouldering areas in the north of England. This crag has well over 100 routes in all grades from Diff to E6, the hard routes usually done as top ropes or solos. 20 to 50 foot sandstone cliffs and boulders in a pleasant woodland setting. Southwest facing and good at any time of the year.

Directions: | OS86--GR NY 505 453 9 miles north of Penrith. Take the A6 north to High Hesket and turn off right to Armathwaite. At the village, turn right, go over the bridge and park. A path leads down under the bridge and along the south bank. Follow it into the trees, keeping right on a well worn path to reach the rocks in about ten minutes.
