Crenans is a limestone cliff standing over the small village of Crenans! Here you can climb on bolted routes with a 60m rope, though some routes might need a belay (but I'm not sure!). On the right is a slab with easy routes (under 5.9). On the extreme left is a crag with hard routes (a wonderful route with a small column is 5.11b). Between is the widest part of this cliff with overhanging routes, routes on pillars, on slabs, and always on a good limestone with pockets. If you don't want to climb, of if the weather is too hot, you can go swimming in the Lac de Vouglans (especially the Surchauffant beach and the Mercantine beach) or go to Villards d'Héria and see the roman archeological ruins. | Directions: | From Lons-le-Saunier, go south to Montaigu, then Orgelet, then Lac de Vouglans, then direction Moirans-en-Montagne on road D-470. From this road, you can see the cliff on your left. Turn left at the Crenans sign, go through this village, and park 500m after on the right of the road. To go to the cliff, cross the road and climb the 3 m high block with the fixed rope, and follow the path to the bottom of the cliff. |
