About Klettertürme:

There are no natural elevations in Berlin high enough to allow any kind of climbing. Fortunatly some brilliant brains came up with the idea of raising concrete climbing facilities all over the city. Made of the remainings of the socialist construction wonder (the towers are mostly made of concrete plates of torn down housing projects, the so called Plattenbau) with abitious surface modeling the Klettertürme make for some good outdoor climbing experience.

Most of the walls are steep with an occasional roof and provide structure as well as additional screw-on holds. The modeling often is pretty realistic and you'll find all different kinds of holds, finger pockets, smaller cracks, dihedrals etc. for some extraordinary climbing. Some of the routes really have the potential of classics.

In the end, alas, it's concrete. But on the upside: The after climbing beer is never too far...
