Holzberg
About Holzberg:
A relatively new, well equipped and very popular quarry, and the largest in the region. Over 100 routes between grades II and Xb, with a high concentration of quality easy to mid-grade routes (III-VIIIb).
Almost all routes are very well protected with bolts, and re-bolting is underway to keep them in good condition. There is still quite a bit of loose rock lying around the tops of many climbs, and a helmet is highly recommended on busy days. Routes of note: Valentinstag VIIc, considered by many to be the best route in all of Holzberg. Verklemmt geklemmt VIIc, beautiful hand crack. Once the crack starts, can be very well protected with mid to large friends. Alpenistenhangel V, long and enjoyable. |
Approach: | From Böhlitz, follow Straße des Friedens east and turn right onto Zum Köppelshen Berg. Parking fairly obvious after about 400m. Entrance on right over small berm (next to the "Betriebsgelände, betretten verboten" sign). |
