About Uskedalen:
Uskedalen is a valley south of Bergen. In this valley you will find some of the greatest granite climbing in Norway. The climbing is multipitch trad from Norwegian grade 4 to 7 and from two to eighteen pitches long. The climbing is on four different walls up to 600-meters tall. On some of the routes you will find bolted belays and mixed protection, but most of the routes have trad belays. Although there are only about sixty routes on the walls, the potentials for new routes are great. In the first two years of climbing, no routes were repeated as it was seen as a waste of time to throw away a day on anything but a first accent (The first known accents was done around 1990). Many of the routes have still only been climbed ones. If multipicth trad climbing on bomb solid granite is what you desire, then this valley is the spot. A new guidebook is going to be released next year from Bergen Climbing Club (www.bergen-klatreklubb.no ). Until then you can find the old guidebook in PDF file format at their homepage. Take a look at this book if you are interested in more info and some pictures of the walls (and notice all the empty spaces on the walls waiting for some first accents). |
