Hurrungane, also written Hurrungene, Hurrungadn, Horungane, is a mountain range in the municipalities Luster and Årdal in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. The area is southwest in the larger mountain range Jotunheimen and is also part of Jotunheimen National Park.
The range has some of the most alpine peaks in Norway, and has 24 peaks over 2,000 meters (counting peaks with larger prominence than 30 m). Several of the peaks are only accessible through climbing or glacier crossings. Startingpoint for hiking is Turtagrø at the national tourist road the Sognefjellsvegen (RV55).
The origin of the name is uncertain, but is thought to stem from old Norwegian words describing the sound of falling rock and ice[1], or perhaps "The Bastards".
