This is a lesser-known gem in the Glarner Alps. Klausenpass is one of the longest-closed passes - and for a reason if you look at the avalanches on southern slopes just over it. The place is a paradise for ski touring in winter - but also climbing in summer. You can explore for a long time Clariden, Todi and the glaciers around - and often be alone or almost in the surrounding refuges. Scenery is gorgeous too, reminding of the Dolomites or the Canadian Rockies.
Ice is to be found in the valley until March or even further into the season. Several interesting alpine routes are available - with or without skis, in summer or in winter.
