About Olympos:
Olympos is on the Mediterranean coast and is part of the Bey Daglari National Park. The setting is extremely beautiful and the rock is of high-quality limestone. The best season to climb here is from late september-until early june. Summer tends to be very hot (and also very crowded). Olympos is very close to Antalya, Kemer, Kas etc., that is, prime tourism areas of Turkey. Olympos and nearby Phaselis and Chimeira are all ancient historical cities and the ruins are there to see. There is a lot to do besides climbing on your rest days like swimming, diving, sight-seeing etc. |
Nearest town or city: | Kumluca |
Directions: | From Antalya bus terminal, take a Kumluca bus and get off at the Olympos turnoff - it takes around 1,5 hours from Antalya to get there. You can also take a bus that goes to Fethiye or Kas from Antalya. Tell the driver that you are going to Olympos and they will drop you at the turnoff. From there, either hitchhike, or catch a minibus that goes to Olympos (I think they work year-round) which is 11 km. away. |
