About Penallta(OS):
This is a small sandstone outcrop with some excellent bouldering and easier small routes. Up to 50 feet tall in places, soloing or toproping is the norm in a pleasant and often sunny setting. Nothing really above 5c, but plenty of good SEVERES. |

Directions: | OS171--GR138/952 Seven miles NNW of Caerphilly. Take the A469 north to Ystrad Mynach, then take a small road through the village north towards Gelligaer for about a third of a mile. Turn left into a housing area and park at the far end. From here, the crag is to the northwest, about a five minute walk. |
