About First Rock:

The first sport wall you encounter on your walk into Heart Creek. After only a few minutes you will see this 30m high wall peeking through the trees on your right. Though the wall is reasonably high, you will find most climbs to be only around 12m or so in height. Due to it's east-facing aspect this crag does not see an abundance of sunlight, though it is not overly cold as a result. In recent years, 'First Rock' has become quite popular, especially amongst the Calgary folk, and as such, the climbs are beginning to see some excessive amounts of polish. Keep this in mind when climbing, as it has likely increased the difficulty of many a climb here. despite the crowds, the wall still contains some very worthwhile lines.
