Basalt-Southpark
About Basalt-Southpark:
Ignore the Whistler Rockclimbs book for access to this crag unless a crazy tyrolean over the raging river is your idea of fun. Park all the way down by the bungee jump area and hike over the big bridge. On the other side of the river pick up the trail heading south along the ridge. As the fence disappears it is possible to hike down the mean looking talus (safer to bushwack in from the south) to a bunch of fixed ropes and wire lines that lead back under the cliff. HELMETS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as the basalt rains down chunks from time to time. Sketchy traverse back north to the climbs. Blame Canada is the first climb encountered and it is immediately in front of the fixed line randomly placed between the two trees. |
