About Chewacla:
This is a state park that is probably the closest thing to climb in the Auburn area. There are maybe two dozen routes here and the rock is fairly sharp and most of the routes have bad landings. There is some work being done to clear boulder problems around the creek. There is a $2 fee at the gate for the whole day until dark. The ranger doesn't seem to care if anyone climbs here, but please obey the speed limit even though it is rediculously slow, he will give you a speeding ticket. |

Directions: | From I-85 get off at exit 51 on (College Street aka. Hwy147)and head the opposite directions from the McDonalds and take your first left. Drive down this road till it runs into the park. Pay at the gate and follow the road to the end of the park where there is a parking lot. Park and follow the signs to the water fall. Walk down stream from the water fall and look up on the left for rock and check in the middle of the river for several boulders. |
