About Fairbanks Ice:

John Reeves Ice Tower. Some winters John Reeves makes an ice tower near Fox, 5 miles north of Fairbanks. He pumps water into the air. The ice is different from waterfall ice, interesting and varied. Photos and descriptions are on the Ice Tower pages at AlaskanAlpineClub.org
Nearest town or city: Fairbanks
Directions: Drive north from Fairbanks on the Steese Highway, over the hill. The ice is noticeably near the road at the bottom of the hill, left side. A couple more miles is Fox. Stop at the Silver Gulch Brewery for awhile, then drive back to the ice.

Access Issues: Private property. Climbing is by Alaskan Alpine Club invitation to work on the ice (add pipe), usually weekends. Contact through the club's website.
