About Canyon Creek ICE:

This area is not very well known, and is rarely climbed. There are no published names for the routes. These WI3 to WI4, one-pitch icicles are great to climb, but the approach is known to be scary. Please check the local avalanche conditions before approaching the Canyon Creek drainage, wind loaded snow and slab slides are common here in the winter and spring.
Nearest town or city: Hope Cut-off
Directions: Drive south from Anchorage on the Seward Highway and park in the rest area just before the bridge over Canyon Creek and the Hope Cut-Off. Enter the Canyon Creek drainage and head up stream. A half hour slog will bring the icicles into view high up on the right.
