About University Range:

5,006m (16,421 ft.)

Mt. Bona is the highest peak in the University Range, a range of glaciated peaks between the Wrangell and St. Elias Ranges. This huge moutain takes on Himalayan proportions, though at a much more moderate altitude. The view of the surrounding mountain and immense glaciation are incomparable. The normal route is not very technical, but still requires expedition style climbing on heavily glaciated terrain. For those with little mountaineering experience, this is an excellent peak to learn the skills and techniques that can carry you up an ascent of other large mountains around the world. Best attempted in late spring or early summer. The normal route takes about two weeks to climb and descend.
