About White Tanks:
This area was extensively climbed in the 70's. It includes some short granite cliffs as well as a granite wall over 300 feet tall with some nice routes. Some of the rock is loose and blocky but much of it is quite sound. Climbing has historically been open here but after the death of a climber last year things have changed. While climbing is not officially against park rules they try to discourage it a great deal with signs. Also the waterfall trail is very popular and there is significant risk of rockfall to hikers in that area. The largest wall (fall factor wall) is less of a problem because it is well away from the main trail. If you wish to climb I encourage you to contact the park and be very nice.(623)935-6056. |
