About Black Planets:

Fun winter bouldering on black basalt/tuff only a couple minutes off of Hwy 395 about 2 hrs south of Bishop. No guidebook, although there are directions (with incorrect mileage) on page 134 of the Domelands guidebook. More accurate directions below. As well as a variety of boulders, there is a bluff with short (20-30') cracks that can be soloed, led, or top-roped. Be careful with loose rock.
Nearest town or city: Pearsonville
Directions: Take a right off of 395 North at 3.6 miles past the "Nine Mile Canyon/Kennedy Meadows" junction, just past where major power lines cross the road. The road is small and easily missed. Follow the most heavily travelled moderate clearance dirt road for 1.3 miles (turns north for 50 yards, swings around south for maybe 300 yards, then turns north again). Basically, try to get as far to the north and east as possible on the network of little roads, it's not hard to find. The road ends near power lines with several parking lots/turn-arounds. If approaching from the north, it's best to go to the Nine Mile Canyon/Kennedy Meadows junction, turn back onto 395 N, and follow the main directions.
