Lyons Lake
About Lyons Lake:
This is in Desolation Wilderness. Approach on Lyons Lake Trail from Wrights Lake Road. Two tiers of cliffs east of the lake. Lower tier more interesting, one pitch climbs, good rock quality. Upper slabs longer but not hard. Formation at the end of the valley to the north called The Fortress and has some nice one pitch climbs, good rock quality. Beautiful setting. A nice alpine ridge traverse can be done from Lyons to Price Peak, then S to Pyramid Peak, then back by the valley to the lake in a day. |
