About Mt. Rubidoux:
Standing high above the city of Riverside, the large boulder-studded hill of Mt. Rubidoux is a beacon to local climbers. The rock is a granite that varies in quality from smooth and flawless (think Mt. Woodson) to coarse and grainy (J. Tree) with most being somewhere in the middle. Hundreds of boulder problems exist, as well as many TR's and even a good aid climbing circuit. The climbing tends to be thin and footwork intensive with the hardest problems rarely seeing repeats. The paved service road that wraps around the hillside is popular with local residents for walking, and provides easy access to many problems as do the many spur trails. Please stay on the trails to minimize erosion and pick up after yourself. |
