About Giant Rock:

Giant Rock has been called the largest single boulder in existence; whether that is true or not is debatable, but it gives the local town something to be proud of. Lots of bouldering and some sport routes here as well, on rock that is generally quite sound and well featured. Expect to share the area (especially on weekends) with drunken gun-wielding crazies - so plan on trash, glass and graffiti too. Other than that it's totally pristine...This is the high desert, so plan on fall through spring being the best times to visit.
Nearest town or city: Landers
Directions: From the town of Landers turn north off Reche Rd onto either Landers Ave or Belfield and follow these roads (sandy/dirt) towards the east side of a large hillside. The Giant Rock will come into view after a mile or so. The DMZ area can be found by driving north past the Giant Rock then west around a small dirt hill into a sandy cove which faces west.
