About Coyote Beach:
Water washed Sandstone Conglomerate, can be crumbly right next to a nice solid section, pay attention. Overhanging problems and pumpy traverses are all over. If you are not afraid of getting wet, even more... A good time can be had here just scrambling through the rocks. The proximity to civilization could make it worth it. ***WATCH OUT FOR POISON OAK IN THIS AREA*** |
Nearest town or city: | Newbury Park |
Directions: | To get there take the freeway 101 and exit on Ventu Park, Go north to the Hillcrest and Ventu Park intersection, Stay on the right lane and park inside the county park, follow the dirty road, walk along the creek (downstream!) about 10-15 minutes and you will get to the main area. If you see a big "cave" in the left side of the gully, turn around. The traverse pictured is on the right side (coming from parking) of the first big "hole" you come to. |
