About Munson Boulder Area:

One beautiful house-sized boulder sitting in stream bed with a number of problems, all of which are hard, scary or both. Also a couple offshoot boulders with overlooked, forgotten or undone problems (potential for more!). Much of the rock is river-polished and/or has seasonally wet landings. Despite this, it's actually pretty fun, and a decent spot to get your rocks off (as it were) close to Ojai, CA.
Nearest town or city: Ojai
Directions: From the hwy 155, hwy 33 intersection just west of Ojai, CA, travel exactly 6.0 miles up 33 until you find a large pullout on your left (there's a gated 4wd/strange road heading up from the top/right side of the parking lot). Cross the road and walk about 100 long steps upriver before cutting into the woods towards the river (on 12/27/07 a big tire was discarded near the cut-through "trail" and I built a small cairn about 15 yards into the woods—either way, head to the river). The massive centerpiece boulder—the "munson"—should be slightly upstream from where you hit the river, with another couple boulders slightly downstream. Come prepared to rock-hop in the river bed.
