About Dome Rock:
A wonderful and unique climbing area with routes up to four pitches in length. The rock is diverse and offers sections with almost pure slab routes, sections festooned with numerous knobs and chickenheads (some of which are tied-off for pro) as well as several excellent crack routes. Most of the face climbs tend to have steeper and better protected low pitches while the upper pitches are slabby and runout. Climbing at Dome Rock involves trusting your ability a ways above protection, being solid at the grade and having good route-finding skills. One great feature of climbing here is that you park atop the rock meaning you top out almost right at your vehicle! |

Directions: | Dome Rock is off of Hwy. 190 in between Springville and California Hot Springs. Turn onto a well marked dirt road a few miles south of the Ponderosa Lodge and park at the end of the dirt road atop the rock. Looking at the top of the rock from the parking area you will see a trail which is used to access the routes; the trail hits the bottom of the rock near The Tree Route. |
