About Hogan:

The worst crag in California? Too hot in Summer, too cold and wet in winter, under water much of the time, rusty 1/4 inch bolts, slimmy smelly river crossing sometimes, sometimes on the wrong side of the lake, rattle snakes, stinging nettles, and posion oak add to the mix. Most bolts have been replaced but may soon be under water again. Small area (40' max.) About 10 or so routes and some bouldering. Good, for maybe a day, for an under .11 climber. Short mixed, trad and top ropes. Some great rock(California Green Stone?) But somtimes mossy and the cracks are dirty. Good only if you want a break from Table Mountain or Cosumnes River Gorge. No one ever climbs here.
Nearest town or city: Valley Springs
Directions: Drive east a few miles Valley Spring and park in the North Fork Acess of Hogan Lake. Hike south about a 1/4 mile on a trail when you hit the old RR bed trun right (west) and hike about a mile and then look down and to the left and across you will see the rocks. Unless they are under water.
