About Sphinx Rock:
Gorgeous granite slabs make this a fantastic, yet over-looked climbing destination. The right-hand summit block contains the crack climbing testpiece, Sphinx Crack, one of the hardest traditional crack climbs in North America that wasn't freed until 1981 and on-sighted until 1995 by famous Japanese climber Yuri Hirayama. It's Colorado's single, most famous crack climb. The crag lies on private property so please leave the area better than you found it and respect the area - climbing here is a privelege, not a right. |
