Bouldering in Bradley is quite a treat, especially with the fall colors blanketing the forest. Prior to 1992, the area was open to climbing. Since 1992 and continuing for the foreseen future, the area has been and probably will be officially closed to climbing by the local landowner, the New Britain Water Department (NBWD). The NBWD has actively ejected climbers as recently as the Summer of 2005. The local Access Fund-associated climbing organization, the Ragged Mountain Foundation (RMF) has lobbied for years to reopen climbing access to Bradley Mountain and in the Spring of 2005 shelved a proposed plan to purchase the land. The area is only officially open to hiking along the Metacomet Trail, the blue-blaze trail that runs through the area.
