About UF Lake Wauberg Tower:
Open to UF students, alumni, and faculty only. However, you may climb as a guest of one of the above-listed people. If you're interested, check out the Lake Wauberg forum at http://recsports.hhp.ufl.edu/wauburg/bbs/. There are always climbers looking for partners, so finding a student to climb with shouldn't be a big problem.
This is a pretty new facility. It's located in a very nice corral of trees, and you have a view of Lake Wauberg from the top. There are 16 routes of all degrees of difficulty, and routes with both/either juggy plastic grips and tiny granite knobs. All routes are TR. There is also a 6-wall bouldering grotto. The best 2 things about this facility: price and desolation. It's free to students and their guests as part of your (ever-increasing) tuition. But since most students don't know/care about Lake Wauberg (and specifically the tower, which has only been there a couple years), you usually have your run of the tower all day long. |
