(Big) Chick Hill
About (Big) Chick Hill:
Big Chick offers an unsurpassed collection of high-quality, moderate, low-angle granite face climbs in the 5.8-5.10 range. Routes are of varying lengths. The older, longer climbs offer great excursions, but most of the modern quality climbs are single pitches. These can vary in length from 30' pitches to rope-stretching 180' pitches. |

Directions: | Continue driving on rt. 9 East past Parks Pond Bluff. You will soon see two giant granite domes on the left. The first is Little Chick Hill, and the 2nd is Big Chick. The parking is located at a gravel truck turnout atop a very steep hill. Once you locate the trail it is easy to follow up to the wall(15-20 min.). The climbs listed represent a small sampling of Chick's quality offerings. The 3 routes described are located directly above the terminus of the main trail from rt. 9. The Left Wall ensues leftward from here and is home to numerous other superb routes. |
