About Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park:
| Most popular for its picnic area at the rocky shore of Casco Bay and its offshore island that houses a population of ospreys, this scenic state park also offers some limited but sweet bouldering and top roping opportunities. All of the climbing is concentrated on a short 100 yard stretch of shore line on the western side of the park. The rock is highly metamorphised and studed with quartz and mica deposits. The real prize for climbers is an immense, 30-foot high, free standing boulder that has detatched from the bank and sits at the high tide line. $3 will get you into the park and an easy 15 minute hike will get you to the climbing. There is a campground just down the street and many more 10 minutes away in downtown freeport. |

| Directions: | Take 95 into Freeport and get off at Old Exit 20 onto Route 1. Turn right onto Route 1 and follow it to L.L. Bean. Turn left onto Flying Point Road. Follow Flying Point Road out to Wolfe's Neck Road. Turn right onto Wolfe's Neck Road and follow it to a left hand turn into the park. Park at the first parking lot. Find the trailhead sign that says "To Haraseeket Trail". Follow the trail to an intersection. Turn right onto the Haraseeket Trail. Follow the trail through an intersection and past the Hemlock Ridge Trail to a dirt road. Cross the road and continue downhill along the foot trail to the ocean. Descend directly to the water to find the climbing. |
