Cliffline
About Cliffline:
Most recently, the Park Superintendent has told a climber that climbing is not allowed in the park. We'll look for clarification, and if this is indeed the policy, then this destination will be deleted.
Routes are listed from left to right, from the bottom of the gulley/scramble. Do not climb the first route you come to, on the chossy reddish rock; the anchors are pulling out. This is an UNSAFE route. It should never have been put up, and it will be removed soon. The bolted routes begin with a 5.7ish pocketed bulge, slabby-finish short route; not a "destination" route, but it does give you something to warm up on. Directly right of the pockets is a short crack (also 5.7 warm up) leading to the same bolted anchors. From here, left to right, the routes get progressively harder, starting with 5.11d, and going up 5.13+. A couple routes have very scary roof-overhang starts for which failure will ruin the day (may want to stick clip). Holds are very small, sloping, and rarely have good footholds to take some of the weight off the fingers. Stances and movement can be awkward and reachy; while some routes look over-bolted, when you're on them, the bolt placement makes sense. It is not easy (and in some cases impossible) to set up TRs, so be prepared to lead hard grades. |
