The best info on this area can be found in Kyle Vassipaulos's(sp?) guidebook.
Approach: From Bozeman drive towords Livingston and exit the highway on Trail creek road. A few hundred yards is a Trailhead. The new frog rock trailhead apparently has a fork that will lead to chestnut mountain as opposed to the old goose creek approach(If you don't know the way you are better off starting from the frog rock trail, as there are trailheads).
