About Chimney Mountain:

Chimney Mountain is located at the very end of Big Brook Road in the town of Indian lake. The entrance to this road is about 1 mile south of the village on rt 30. The trailhead lies on private property and the owners ask for a donation to park. It's a simple dropbox. The trail to the top of the mountain is about 9/10 of a mile long that gets very steep and slippery. 50% of the trail is exposed bedrock. Once at the top you will arrive at the Chimney. A most popular hangout it is. Rock climbing is not the only thing that the mountain has to offer. It has days worth of caving as well. Granite as well as bands of sandstone you will find throughout.
Nearest town or city: Indian Lake
Directions: Head north on rt 30 out of Fonda off the NYS Thruway. Drive through the towns of Johnstown, Gloversville,Wells, Speculator and continue for about another 24 miles. Turn Right on to Big Brook Road and follow to its end.

Access Issues: Parking is on private property. There nominal fee of $1 per car load to park. The owners do have cabins to rent though you can camp on the local state property as well.
