About Bonticou:

Bonticou is a crag within the Shawangunk preserve just outside of New Paltz.
Approach: Take Exit 19 off I-87. Follow State Road 299 west through the town of New Paltz. You will make the first right, after crossing over the Walkill River, on to County Road 7 (Springtown Road). Once on CR-7you will make the first left on to County Road 6 (Mountian Rest Road). You will take CR-6 up and over the Shawangunk Ridge. After you cross the crest of the ridge you will take the first right on to Upper 27 Knolls Road. There is a toll house at the end of the road. There should be someone there to take you money. If there isn't they ask that you go back up to the main visitor center ( you passed it on CR-6 at the top of the ridge) to pay. Follow the trails to the crag
