The Rock
About The Rock :
This is the first Phase you will come to when coming down the trail. It consists mostly of top-roping with a good amount of anchor points. The wall is between 50 and 75 feet and is solid iron-laden sandstone. There might be potential for bolting at some point. There is also plenty of bouldering opportunities here. This place gets real wet in the rain, but if you hike down to the Hemlock Phase you can find good shelter in a natural rock house. Approach: | If you park by the bridge: it will be about a 5-7 minute hike through the woods. Easy to find, just follow the trail and always fork left toward the creek. There is also a Symmes Creek Trailhead parking before the bridge on the right. If you park here it is a short couple minute walk down the road to the bridge. Or you can hike up the trail but that is a longer hike. |
