About Avery Drive Ice:

200 yards East of parking spot at 4x4 access. Thin ice layer running down 40 foot terrace. Mixed snow, rock, and ice. Rare, and fragile (body weight only). Experienced ice climbers will appreciate the delicateness, which makes up for the shortness. Beginners may want to TR this one, for a good fall is likely. If you're seriously jonesing for some ice, like me, then this may help satisfy you just enough to get you through until your next trip to the mountains.
Approach: Park at the small pullout next to the Fenced in area on the south side of Avery drive. There is also a 4x4 access here. Walk east up the road for about 200 yards, it is almost directly across from the guard rail. The climb is on the south side of the road, and comes down over a series of terraces. Drive by first to see if it is in. Needs a heavy snow and several days of thawing and refreezing to become thick enough to climb. Parking at own risk.
